Veritas News: Phase 1 of Renovations Complete - Now Phase 2 Begins!

The Guthrie Theatre is coming along well! We have been open and showing first run movies now for almost two months. We opened today with Secret Life of Pets 2, which our Friday guests thoroughly enjoyed.

Back in February we held our first public event, which was our donor reception. That night we explained our 3 phase plan for "Renewing the Guthrie" - and we are excited to announce that Phase 1 has been successfully completed. We are thankful to the support we have received from the community and our donors.

Now we begin Phase 2 this month with getting the theatre back to its 1920s roots when it opened as a Vaudeville Theatre and showcased live performers from around the country. We begin building our stage in one week which will come out into the audience in a semi-circle and install professional stage lighting. We want our artists who perform live to have enough space to wow our audiences.

Near the end of Phase 2 is replacing our lower auditorium seats, and that is a big endeavor. We are looking for some larger donors to make this possible and we are sure that the community will continue to support us as we make the Queen of Broad Street shine again.

Thank you everyone again and we will see you at the movies!

PS - big news coming out later this week about our upcoming movie on the opioid epidemic "Shooting Heroin"!
